One notable case that I’ve been a part of involving a memory care facility was with our client who was residing in a residential care facility that was advertising special services to for residents with dementia. And so her family trusted that this facility was going to provide her the supervision and assistance that she needed to be safe and that they trusted that they would provide what they were advertising that they would. And unfortunately during her about 10 months at this facility, she really declined because she wasn’t getting the assistance she needed to eat, to walk safely, to get in and out of bed, to go to the restroom. And so this resulted in her suffering falls. Her condition declined overall. She became more and more bed bound. She’s staying in bed more and sadly developed some bed sores and ultimately passed away at that same facility. And her family was devastated understandably because they did trust that this facility would provide what they said they were going to. And when that didn’t happen, they reached out to our firm and we were able to get them a fair settlement to compensate for their loss of their mother and for their mother’s pain and suffering. And we were able to hold this facility accountable and also shed light on some of the issues that were occurring within the facility such as lack of of training of staff members. Unfortunately, she was not around to see the outcome of the case, but her family was able to seek justice on her behalf, and we’re very grateful for the settlement that we were able to help them get.
