So if a nursing home isn’t giving a family updates on the health of their loved one, I would recommend going down there and just see what’s going on. Try to go down there as much as possible and I would recommend staggering your visits so we go on a different day or at a different time. And that’s specifically so that the staff at the facility doesn’t learn your schedule because oftentimes they’ll learn the family member’s schedule and they’ll clean grandma and grandpa up right before they come to see them and tied any issues. But if you show up unexpectedly, you might be able to catch them or be able to really see the kind of care your loved ones are being provided. So if a family member can’t go down there because they live far away or are out of town, I would recommend calling as much as possible. If you have anyone in the area that you know, maybe a friend or another family member, I would ask them to go down and check. Because oftentimes they won’t answer their phone, or they’ll take a long time, so it’s really difficult if you’re not there in person. But if that’s your only option, I would just recommend, keep calling until you get the answers you need.
