ABUSE LAW FIRM
We are one of the leading elder abuse law firms in the United States, representing nursing home abuse victims and their families throughout the entire state of California. Every elderly adult deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. However, too often, nursing homes prioritize profits over vulnerable residents. Rather than taking responsibility for abuse and neglect at their facilities, they use their wealth to silence victims and their families through intimidation and legal maneuvering. At Lanzone Morgan, LLP, we fight back against those who take advantage of vulnerable victims for financial gain.
Safeguarding the Rights and Dignity of the Elderly
Our mission is to create safer care environments for all the elderly community in California, now and in the future, to ensure they receive the dignified treatment they deserve in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other long term care environments.
Our attorneys are experienced trial lawyers with a proven track record of holding nursing homes accountable. Our founders are members of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, a prestigious organization group of less than one percent of trial lawyers in the country. Founding partner James Morgan has earned a 10-star Avvo rating, a rating based on information collected from state bar associations and the attorney’s Avvo profile. Our partners and most of our attorneys are members of the Nursing Home Litigation Group of the American Association of Justice, a group that encourages bringing lawsuits against nursing homes in just cases.
We have over 75 years of experience standing up to nursing homes and have recovered over $200 million in compensation for victims of elder abuse and neglect. We care about every client and take a hands-on, customized approach to each case to ensure every victim receives the compassionate representation they deserve. Our experience, know-how, and empathy for our clients is what sets us apart from every other law firm.
Protecting Elders Throughout California Through Transformative Litigation
We represent victims throughout the entire state of California with our reach spanning from cities like Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Diego, to rural areas like Paso Robles and La Quinta. We won’t hesitate to boldly question current regulations, legal precedents, and longstanding nursing home practices that treat our state’s elderly residents unfairly.
Recently, our law firm won an important victory in the California Supreme Court for elderly infirm adults throughout California. In that case, we filed a lawsuit for injuries the victim suffered in a nursing home due to neglect. The victim had a health care power of attorney that allowed the victim’s agent sign an arbitration agreement that was thrown into the admission paperwork. After filing the lawsuit, the nursing home tried to compel arbitration and won. After months of working its way through the appellate courts, we won at the Supreme Court who ruled that a durable health care power of attorney does not give the agent authority to waive an elderly infirm adult’s right to trial by jury. Because of that ruling, we are now litigating the victim’s claims in Superior Court where the claim belongs.
This is just one example of how we fight to make a real difference for elders in California. This case created a precedent that helps victims of nursing home abuse and neglect statewide and keeps their cases in front of juries rather than behind closed doors of arbitration.

History of Lanzone Morgan, LLP
Founding partner Anthony Lanzone began his career at a personal injury law firm in downtown Los Angeles while still in law school. Shortly after graduating, he gained extensive trial experience at a large nationwide law firm as a lead attorney on a trial team focused on elder abuse cases. One of the attorneys he worked with was James Morgan.
James Morgan started his career as an attorney for the United States District Court Judge Warren K. Urborn and a law clerk for Kansas Supreme Court Justice Harold Herd. His experience protecting the rights of the elderly in his early career ignited a lifelong passion for advocating for society’s most vulnerable residents.
As peers at that previous law firm, Anthony and James were already aware from their many discussions that they shared a similar passion for protecting the rights of the elderly. Although they temporarily parted ways after leaving the firm, in 2009, they established Lanzone Morgan, LLP.
Since our inception, our caseload and staff have grown yearly. Today, our dedicated team includes five skilled associated elder abuse attorneys, three paralegals, and several support staff members with a unified commitment to holding perpetrators of elder abuse and neglect accountable.
Compassionate Support and Aggressive Representation
We champion the rights of elderly nursing home residents in California because we care. As a client, you can expect to receive 24/7 support from empathetic attorneys. Nursing homes are notorious for providing substandard care because their bottom line is more important to them than the very people who pay them for their services. At Lanzone Morgan, LLP, we are human beings first and lawyers second. As our client, your loved one is our number one priority, and you can count on our support through every step of your case.
