Family of Nursing Home Patient Sues MPTF

LOS ANGELES — The family of an 89-year-old resident of the Motion Picture & Television Fund’s nursing home who died after falling down a stairwell is suing the charity for negligence.

The article continues, stating that, “A recent lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court in Van Nuys alleges nursing staff failed to properly monitor Carrie Delay, a wheelchair-bound patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who fell off a landing between the first and second floors of the Woodland Hills nursing home in October.” In the story, Carrie Delay is identified as the victim and that she suffered a fractured spine and sustained other injuries from the incident that resulted in her death just one week later.

The suit in this case is seeking an unspecified punitive damages verdict for her wrongful death, elderly abuse and negligence at the care facility
